philosophy-of-physical-education

My philosophy of physical education is first and foremost to promote lifelong physical activity so that my students will grow up to be a physically active adults. In order for this to happen my students must walk away from physical education having a positive experience.

Therefore, when I assess my students on skills such as the basketball free throw I will be evaluating them on the broken down components of the shot and not on how many baskets they make.

To ensure that this occurs I feel that I need to assess/evaluate my students on the process of their performance and not on the final product. The reason for this philosophy is that not all children in my opinion will ever reach the measures set out for a single performance because of their genetic capabilities, and therefore they will become discouraged and eventually turned off by physical education.

- A.J. Ferroni

"I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed. "
